You’ve heard the saying, “play stupid games, win stupid prizes,” and the video at the bottom of this page perfectly demonstrates why it’s true. It’s vital to survival to have deep respect for wildlife. Wild animals follow no social norms or rules and what may feel like a sweet moment one second can turn deadly the next.
What Kind of Cobras Live in India?
There are a couple of different types of cobras in India. The Indian cobra, also known as the spectacled cobra, is a venomous snake that has a spectacle-shaped marking on the back of its hooded head. Not all of these cobras have that same marking, however. Other cobras include the monocled cobra, Andaman cobra, and the Caspian cobra. The monocled cobra grows to about the same length as the spectacled cobra and has an o-shaped marking on the back of its hooded head. Andaman cobras also have this same marking. Caspian cobras are the most dangerous of the bunch.
How Do Cobras Attack?
Cobras use their fangs to inject venom. This is how they manage to kill their prey. Their venom is a neurotoxin that manages to stop the heartbeat and stop their prey’s breathing. They actively hunt and kill their prey, but they do not actively hunt humans. In cases when a cobra attacks a human, it’s because it feels threatened. If a cobra does get venom into a human, it could be deadly. Medical attention is required right away to save the human.
Man Tries to Kiss a Cobra
In the video clip below, a supposed ‘reptile expert’ attempts to kiss a cobra. A true expert knows to have respect for the majesty and unpredictability of wildlife, especially when it’s a venomous snake. Apparently, he rescued the snake and was handing it off to another man. The ‘expert’ crouches down, ready to hand it off, and leans in to kiss the back part of the cobra’s hooded head. It looks like he manages to plant a kiss on the cobra, and the cobra quickly reacts.
When the snake feels the man’s lips on it, it throws its head back suddenly with its mouth open. It contorts in such a way that it’s able to bite the man’s lip. He flinches, throws the snake on the ground, and moves his head away still in a crouched position. The cobra hits the floor as the man stands up and takes a few steps away. The men present respond with surprised gasps and one man follows the slithering cobra, trying to capture it again.
