Watch What Happens When a Mother and Daughter Discover a Rattlesnake Den at the Playground

Unless you’re enthralled by rattlesnakes, hearing one rattle at a playground when there are little kids running around is a cause for concern. Luckily, when this mother and daughter spot a rattlesnake, she knows exactly who to call — her husband. He is the owner of Rattlesnake Solutions and shows up quickly to snatch that snake up and relocate it to a more suitable environment.

Where Do Rattlesnakes Create Dens?

Rattlesnakes prefer lots of sun exposure and since they don’t have the ability to dig, they won’t typically try to enter vacant burrows created by other creatures like rodents. They can easily turn a pile of logs or rocks into the ideal den. These can be hard to spot because they don’t construct their dens themselves and instead look for environments that suit their needs.

Are Rattlesnakes Dangerous?

Typically, rattlesnakes don’t display aggression unless they’re in a situation when they’re being provoked and they feel threatened — at this point, they do strike. Most of the time, when a rattlesnake bites a human, it’s because the human threatened their area (usually unknowingly). A rattlesnake’s bite results in several symptoms, including pain, swelling in the throat and mouth, difficulty breathing, and in rare cases, shock and collapse.

Mother and Daughter Discover Rattlesnake Den

In the video below, Bryan, owner at Rattlesnake Solutions, is headed to an unusual call. His wife called him to let him know that she’s with their daughter at a park and she’s discovered a rattlesnake den. He mentions he has been to that park and had an inkling that it would soon become a rattlesnake den — turns out, he was right. He arrives with his equipment in tow and meets his wife who explains where she spotted the rattlesnake den. Apparently, someone had been poking at it with a stick.

He proceeds to make his way through a packrat nest when a father and son walk by. The father asks if he’s caught any yet and he responds that he spotted one but hasn’t caught it yet. He continues until he finds it and then reaches over to grab his snake tongs. The video is blurry for a few seconds and then clears up as Bryan says, “hey buddy, I hear you.” He starts to pull it out by its tail and when he has it, he drops it into his bucket. It’s a large female western diamondback rattlesnake. Curious bystanders ask to see it and he takes it out of the bucket so they can get a better look. Then, he relocates her to a new home.

Bryan at Rattlesnake Solutions saves the day again!
